April Housekeeping & May Day Sale

Hello from fiberland! A couple of months have blown by as fast as the spring winds since I last posted here. I’ve been having a few themed pop-up sales lately so if you haven’t followed my Instagram account yet, check out @MoraleFiber to get all the latest updates on special deals and what I’ve been up to.

(Besides planting strawberries and painting the barn)

I have lots of stuff going on right now and many reasons to celebrate with sales, not the least because my absolutely amazing customers (YOU!) keep tagging me and sharing your projects on social media, as well as leaving the sweetest reviews on my Etsy shop and having great conversations with me 🙂 All this word-of-mouth advertising is the root of my consistent sales numbers, and the reason that my Etsy Shop is on the verge of hitting 25k sales – wow! I really am humbled and so grateful.

That’s why on Wednesday, May 1st I’m going to start some very special discount sales, not just in my Etsy Shop but across multiple platforms. Stay tuned for that, I’ll be posting on my Facebook and Instagram what the sales are and how to get them when the time comes.

What else has been keeping me so busy? As some of you have already seen from my recent social media posts, I got engaged to my partner of 6 years during the eclipse earlier this month! If you’d told the me of 13 years ago that I’d end up dying to get married to someone, I would have laughed, but here I am – a very happy lady with an amazing future husband. Ok, I feel weird typing that. Let’s talk about yarn some more 😛

Can’t get married without crocheting myself something for the bridal gear, that would be a travesty. I decided on the Fortune Teller’s Shawl, which was doable for me to make in the few months I have to prepare. I’m making the full version including the Hidden Rose graph, and planning for a fringe as well.

Making this again is a treat, especially in the celestial blues I chose to match my vintage navy blue Gunne Sax dress. I especially admire the graceful curve of the shawl outline achieved by the increases at the edges of every row – in the full version, they twist the tips into a lush spiral, as you can see in this model photo below:

I’ve also been eking out time here and there to work on a premium pattern design that has been in the works for ummmm…. way too long 😀 Anyone remember this?

That’s a screenshot from a Youtube video I did 2.5 years ago that mentioned a coat design which was still in the first draft stage. Forgive the expression, it was hard to get a good shot of it where I wasn’t in mid-sentence 😉 I am now wrestling down drafts 2 and 3 simultaneously, and I have a sturdy skeleton of the written pattern. Once I finished constructing these drafts I’ll be able to take some preliminary photos, sketch out the size change numbers, and then finally begin the TESTING phase!

That is so exciting to say! I have wanted to make this specific piece for so long now. I’ll definitely need testers galore, but I know I won’t be able to get it ready for testing until after the wedding in early June. If you want to be a tester make sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook, because that’s where I’ll post the call when the testing phase begins!

Happy Spring, my deers!
